From the age of 4, De Bruyne had started playing football in his hometown. He soon started playing for his hometown club KVV Drongen where his footballing skills caught the public's attention. Genk (2008-2012)

In 2008, youngster De Bruyne was promoted to Genk's first team, but made his squad debut in May 2010. For the 2010/11 season, he won the Jupiler Pro League with Genk after scoring 5 goals and making 16 assists. After a good 2010/11 season, he scored 8 goals in the 2011/12 season. He then agreed to be transferred to the EPL club in Chelsea.

Chelsea (2012-2014)

In January 2012, Chelsea announced that they had agreed to sign Genk midfielder Kevin De Bruyne. He signed a five-and-a-half-year contract worth £ 7million with the English club. In July 2012, he made his Chelsea debut.

Werder Bremen (loan 2012-2013)

De Bruyne was then sent to Bundesliga club Werder Bremen on loan for the 2012/13 season. In September 2012 he scored his first goal for the club and continued in good form throughout the season. Despite the idea that De Bruyne will be loaned to another Bundesliga club, then Chelsea coach José Mourinho assured him he would be part of the club's future.

Return to Chelsea (2013-2014)

In January 2014, De Bruyne was signed by Wolfsburg for around £ 18million. In April 2014, he scored his first goal for the club and helped them win their last two Bundesliga games of the 2013/14 season.

In the 2014/15 season, De Bruyne scored his first goal of the season in October 2014, in the Europa League. He then helped Wolfsburg to finish second in the Bundesliga and also won the DFB-Pokal, which earned him the footballer of the year award in Germany. He started the 2015/16 season by helping Wolfsburg defeat Bayern Munich in the DFL-Supercup. His exceptional performance quickly became the subject of club appeals and, during the season, speculation was made about his departure from Wolfsburg.

Manchester City (2015 to present)

In August 2015, it was announced that De Bruyne had signed with the city of Manchester for 55 million euroswhich was a record amount for the club. In September 2015, he made his debut for City and also scored for City that month. It was then included in the the last 23 players for the Ballon d'Or. He continued the momentum and was instrumental in the first-ever UEFA Champions League semi-final, which drew praise from experts. In the 2017/18 season, he regained his optimal form. In January 2018, his best performance was rewarded with a contract extension that will see him stay at City until 2023. De Bruyne recorded 16 assists throughout the 2017/18 season and was thus awarded the very first EPL Playmaker of the Season award. De Bruyne played for Belgium at the U-18, U-19 and U-21 levels. He made his debut for the Belgian senior squad in August 2010. He competed in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup and the 2014 World Cup. He represented Belgium at Euro 2016 and the Cup World Cup 2018, where Belgium beat England and placed third.
